Based on the earlier-edition of Manual for Design of Highway Bridge and Culverts—Piers and Foundations, with the prevailing standards and specifications as the guidance and with reference to the application requirements of the designers and construction experiences of bridge pier and foundation in recent years, the book updates and revises the original manual and supplements such contents as new design theories, new materials and new techniques on the basis of preserving the classic theories and methods of the original manual. The book is in eight chapters, mainly including General Provision, Foundation, Abutment, Pier, Pier Base Anti-shock Design, Foundation Treatment, Base Design and Auxiliary Facilities.
The book is a necessary reference book for highway and urban road bridge designers, but also can be used as reference for college teachers and students of relevant majors in teaching and studying the course of bridge engineering.
