In four parts and twenty-three chapters, the book collects and analyzes the post-quake status of highway tunnels after Wenchuan Earthquake. Part I is an overview, mainly introducing the highway tunnel damage survey scope, damage classification, survey and statistical methods, seismic damage grading evaluation system, overall statistics of seismic damages and features of seismic damages. Parts II ~ IV present the survey status and statistics of highway tunnel damages in the three provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu.

With basic materials provided for studies on improvement of highway seismic resistance design, the book can be used for highway tunnel design, construction and research personnel as reference.

Chen Lesheng, Chief Engineer of Sichuan Provincial Transportation Department, engaged, for years, in survey, design and construction of highways, bridges and tunnels and recently focusing on seismic research in highways of Wenchuan Earthquake. He has been successively rewarded with one Second-prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, one Second-prize of Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and one First-prize of China Highway and Transportation Society Science and Technology Progress Award. As the chief editor, he has edited such collections as Albums of Highway Damages of Wenchuan Earthquake and Survey on Highway Earthquake Damages of Wenchuan Earthquake.
